Tidal Confluence is a large-scale abstract coastal landscape painting shaped over time, through a process of reworking and response. Originally this painting begun as ‘Sand Shifting Coast’ but the piece evolved as I pushed the composition further, allowing the movement of water and energy to lead.
Inspired by the meeting of tides along the Devon coastline, this work explores the moment where forces converge currents colliding, light shifting, and the landscape subtly redefined. Sweeping arcs and layered textures suggest both motion and pause, capturing a sense of something unfolding rather than fixed.
There is a balance here between power and calm a reminder of the sea’s constant presence, and its ability to reshape quietly, persistently, over time. A contemplative, statement piece for collectors drawn to dynamic contemporary seascapes that reflect both the beauty and complexity of our coastal environment.This one took its time, 5 months of shifting, reworking… letting it become what it needed to be.
